Breaking New Ground

Watch the progress on our planned 21,000 square foot expansion and renovation of existing space!

About

The National Yiddish Book Center is a vibrant, non-profit organization working to rescue Yiddish and other modern Jewish books and celebrate the culture they contain. We’re excited to be embarking on a 22,000 foot expansion that will double the size of our Amherst building, safeguard our books, and provide performance and classroom space to accommodate the ever-growing demand for Yiddish education and programming. You can monitor the developments on this blog, where you’ll find the latest news, regular updates from Aaron Lansky and a “View from my Window” diary by our staff — along with lots of photos and a growing list of members who have named bookshelves in the new building. And of course, we hope you’ll add your own comments sharing your thoughts about the project.
